On Monday 7th January 2019, University Radio York completed their project and unveiled a new second studio, named ‘Studio Blue’.
Since 1968, the UK’s oldest independent radio station has been making waves all over campus, the city of York and beyond – and its 50th anniversary celebrations look set to do that all over again.
In 1967 York’s then Vice- Chancellor, Lord James, was still hugely weary of increased student participation.
Since his retirement, Warren has dedicated much of his time to researching the history. This work has culminated in his book, ‘Eric James and the Founding of the University of York’, published by the University’s Borthwick Institute for Archives.

The original Humans of New York project began as a photography project in 2010. The photographs soon developed a global audience intrigued by the daily glimpses into the lives of strangers on the streets of New York City.
I was 28 but had nowhere to go with my career, my salary was unlikely to increase to any significant extent as the years passed and the scope of my job unlikely to grow very much.
