Though I knew I was joining Teach First in October 2014, it didn’t make my final day in York any easier. It definitely wasn’t easy saying goodbye to friends I’d made, while knowing also that The Willow would soon be closing down too.
My mother cried when I set off for the University of York. My father looked a bit pinched. I’m sure they could not have known how difficult regular contact would become as I would queue with a pile of coins cupped in both hands by the three payphones after six or at weekends.
I am an awesome procrastinator. I’m so brilliant at procrastinating that I bought a book called How to Stop Procrastinating about 10 years ago and still haven’t finished it.
